Today’s Poem

For Madeleine, In Another June
  by Dave Lucas
(printed in the September 2010 of The Sun Magazine)

I was wrong:  a day came
when I didn’t think of you.
Summer passed over like an immense bird.
Another garish Fourth,
August with its sleepless heat,
both of us less
and less sorry. An air conditioner
hummed through the day’s work.
