Scratching the Itch

I feel uncontrollably compelled to post some cat photos today. It’s like an itch that I just have to scratch every couple of weeks while blogging.

This first photo features two little orange kittens I fostered for our local Humane Society awhile back. They got adopted together, which still warms my heart when I think about it, because they were such good buddies.

Next up is a shot of Stewart and Sagan, my babies. They are 12 years old, and brothers. They’re the loves of my life:

Here’s an old favorite of mine, Sagan having fun outside on a warm spring day:

Then there’s the perfection that is Stewart:

A cat is a demure animal; it will not come into the living-room wagging its tail and knocking over lamps and tables.

We also have a “baby” cat at our house, Huckleberry. He is now 7 years old and the baby of our family:

Finally, I am going to include a photo of our beloved Sinjen, who died December 6, 2007 at age 6 of a blood clot. We euthanized him, had him cremated, and he now rests in a little red tin in the kitchen. Here he is, looking relaxed:

"Even overweight cats instinctively know the cardinal rule: when fat, arrange yourself in slim poses."

“I meant,” said Ipslore bitterly, “what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?”
Death thought about it.
“Cats,” he said eventually. “Cats are nice.”
